About

Dr. Vaskalis serves as the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Academic Education, at the Campbell University Jerry M Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine. A native of Freeland, PA, Dr. Vaskalis is a two-time graduate of Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA, graduating summa cum laude, and the recipient of the James G. DeCosmo Memorial Prize in Mathematics, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics (minors in Computer Science and Physics) and a Master of Science in Education, with a concentration in Mathematics Education. Additionally, he has completed 45 credits of graduate-level coursework in mathematics at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. He has most recently graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from North Carolina State University in Learning and Teaching in STEM – Mathematics and Statistics Education, with a PhD level – full minor in statistics, related to his area of interest and teaching at the medical school, biostatistics, with his dissertation titled: “The Past, Present, and Future of Statistics in Medical Education: A Mixed-Methods Study of Biostatistics Curriculum and Faculty Instructional Practices, Perspectives And Beliefs in U.S. Medical Schools.”
